چکیده
Spatiotemporal patterns in seagrass-epiphyte dynamics for Thalassia testudinum the northwestern Gulf of Mexico were evaluated through biomass measurements and scanned-image based metrics to investigate potentially harmful impact excessive epiphyte accumulations on seagrass condition. Image analysis with Spectral Angle Mapper algorithms distinguished uncovered leaf pixels generate a normalized metric area coverage (epiphyte pixels/total pixels). Imaging compared biomass-based seasonally, among three locations different environmental conditions (depth, salinity, temperature nutrient levels inferred from sediment porewater measurements) near Redfish Bay, Texas, USA. analysis, conjunction measures, provides enhanced insight into dynamic relationship how it varies conditions. Compared morphological image may be more informative as an indicator changes. Variation linear regressions vs. (pixels) suggested changes thickness and/or density accumulated epiphytes across contexts seasons. Two colonization presented correlation between load coverage. The was highest at low temperatures elevated DIN:P ratio porewater. Conversely, mean by stayed relatively constant (± 10%) seasons but differed location (25% ~55% this case), suggesting that growth study is regulated maintain proportion uncolonized surface plays role its regulation.

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Changes in Seagrass Species Composition in Northwestern Gulf of Mexico Estuaries: Effects on Associated Seagrass Fauna
The objective of this study was to measure the communities associated with different seagrass species to predict how shifts in seagrass species composition may affect associated fauna. In the northwestern Gulf of Mexico, coverage of the historically dominant shoal grass (Halodule wrightii) is decreasing, while coverage of manatee grass (Syringodium filiforme) and turtle grass (Thalassia testudi...

Propeller scarring within seagrass beds is common in shallow coastal waters. Scarring has the potential to fragment seagrass beds, resulting in habitat loss, decreased productivity, and the possibility for further erosion and degradation. We conducted a study in Thalassia testudinum beds in Puerto Rico to determine whether seagrass macrofauna are affected by this disturbance. Four sampling zone...
